To validate your website, log in to your account.
If you manage multiple sites using , select the website that you want to validate from the Site dropdown menu on the left hand side of the main Control Panel, or by clicking on your domain name in the top right (this will reveal another dropdown menu of the sites you can manage).
What is this feature?
Site validation is an error detection tool which checks your website for errors, such as broken links or images, and then validates it against W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) web standards.
When you request a report, a scan of all links and images in your site is performed, then each are tested to ensure they are valid. Any problems found will be reported as an error.
To complete the process, your site is then tested using the W3C validation tool, individually testing each web page in your site for valid HTML/XHTML markup.
Once complete a validation report is generated and a notification email sent.
Request a Report
Once you have logged into your website’s Control Panel, click the red Request Website Error Check button.
Alternatively, if you are already logged in, select Site Management > Site Validation Check Reports from the main menu.
Once in the Site Validation Check Reports screen, click the Request Validation button.
The entire process may take up to two hours, depending on the size of your website. When the report becomes available you will be notified via email.
Viewing your Report
You will be sent a notification email when validation is completed, containing a link to view the report.
This link will take you to the Site Validation Check Reports page. All your site’s validation reports will be listed here.
Select the appropriate report from the details list.
Understanding your Report
Your report is divided into two sections. The first details the date and time the report was requested, and the number of errors found.
The second part of the report, Reports By URL displays the results. Any errors will be listed here and arranged by page URL. For example, errors in your Contact page would be listed under the page URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/contact, and error messages sorted into Broken Links or Validation Warnings.
If no errors are found you will see “Congratulations! Your site is completely error free!”
Due to the nature of website validation, the Site Validation Report is often technical and complex, requiring a level of understanding to interpret the error messages. As part of our service to you we offer Site Validation Site Error Correction. This service may incur an additional fee depending on your Service Level Agreement.
